John William Beckham Sr., 85, of 1220 McHenry Crossing died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000.   

A native of Upson County, Mr. Beckham was a son of the late George Wesley and Henrietta Ella Penn Beckham. He was a retired cattle and peach farmer, and was retired as a warden from Morgan County Correctional Institute. 

Services were Monday at Madison Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ross officiating. Burial was in Madison City Cemetery. 

Survivors include his wife, Rose D. Beckham; three sons, Roger W. Beckham and George Morgan Beckham, both of Madison, and John ''Billy'' W. Beckham Jr., Marietta.; a sister, Ruth Burks, Thomaston; a brother, Moses Beckham, Madison; and four grandchildren. 

Simmons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
