LEROY "Lee" BINION Jr.

Leroy “Lee” Binion, Jr. was born August 28, 1929 in Madison to the late Leroy and Sallie Ree Binion in Madison. He entered into a peaceful rest Saturday, July 13, 2013 with his family gathered around him. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charlie and Talmadge Binion; five sisters Lurene, Eva Cara, Josephine, Mary and Leona and a daughter, Linda Davenport.

He was married to Eloise Greene in 1949 and to this union nine children were born.

He attended the public school in Morgan County in the Apalachee community. At an early age he joined Holland Springs Baptist Church.

He joined the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War with the 24th Infantry division, where he earned several honors including the “Silver Star” and four Bronze Medals. Mr. Binion was a man of many trades. He had a passion for construction work, which he and his brothers worked together effortlessly to provide services to countless citizens in and around Georgia. He loved working crossword puzzles and watching game sows, is favorite was “Wheel of Fortune.”

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children, Marion (Gary) Flanigan of Augusta, Aurelia B. Hill of Madison, Ronald (Gwen) Binion of Decatur, Roy (Patricia) Binion of Covington, Bobby (Kim) Binion of Lorton, Virginia, Mary (Rev, Frank) Thomas f Clemmons, NC, Arthur, Derrick and Fredrick Binion all of Madison, Demetra (Dirk) Smith and Duane Carter both of Jacksonville, Fla., one brother Willie Frank Binion, two sisters Jessie Mae Templeton of Houston, Texas and Sallie Ree (Solomon) Gilbert of Madison; 19 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative and friends.
