VEALE CROSS ALLEN CANDLER CROSS
Mrs. Allen C. Cross passed away at the Eatonton Hospital on March first at the age of 60. Mrs. Cross was born in Greene County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late John Veale and Mattie Zuber Veale. She and Mr. Cross were married in 1914.
Funeral services were held in Hemperly's Chapel last Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev. T. H. Wheelis, of the Madison Methodist Church and Rev. Warrick. of Shady Dale officiating. Burial was in the Madison City Cemetery.
Miss Anna John Watkins sang "Does Christ Care" with Miss Rena Prior at the organ. Pallbearers were Tom Fullilove, Charles Elrod, Leroy Hicks, Z.A. Massey, Foster Smith and Welcome Malone. Honorary pallbearers were F.C. Newton, Kay Tipton, S.W.Vaughn, P.S. Burney, Grady Atkinson, Ben Jordan, W. S. Gresham, Dr. H.P. Stuckey, Dr. C.G. Jordan and Dr. J.H. Nicholson.
Mrs. Cross is survived by four children, Mrs. L.H. Walker, of Madison, Mrs. J.B. King, of Macon, Mrs. T.E. Peden, of Johnston, S.C., and E.C. Cross of Griffin. Three brothers, J.L. Veale, Greshamville, B.F. Veale, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and T.Z. Veale, of Watkinsville, and two sisters, Mrs. F.P. Bullard of Atlanta and Mrs. J.C. Cochran of Starke, Fla, also survive.
