HOMER NEWTON GILSTRAP
Homer Newton Gilstrap died on June 18, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Annie Sue Sims Gilstrap and their children, Patsy (Bo) Turner of Atlanta, Dennis (Thelma) Gilstrap of Warner Robins and Kay (Ted) Towne of Seattle, WA. He also leaves a granddaughter, Tristan Towne and five grandsons: Blake (Kim) Turner, Drew Turner, Michael (Kim) Gilstrap, Shannon Gilstrap and Austin Towne. Mr. Gilstrap has six great grandchildren. His siblings are Charles Gilstrap, Eugene Gilstrap, Georgia Whisenant. Other survivors include a host of nieces and nephews. Mr. Gilstrap served proudly in the United States Air Force, retiring after twenty years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. The funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 2 pm in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Madison City Cemetery. Rev. Rick Smith officiated. Military Honors were provided by the United States Air Force Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimers Association 41 Perimeter Center, East, Suite 550 Atlanta, GA 30346.
