ROY FOWLER HOLLAND

Mr. Roy Holland, 82 of Madison, died November 5, 2015 at his home.  He was a native of Dekalb County.  He was born October 25, 1933 to William and Clara Parks Holland. 

 

After high school, Roy served in the U.S. Army.  Afterwards he spent his career working at the Air Station in Marietta where he was foreman of the public works. 

 

He was married to Valworth Anderson on May 28, 1955.  After retirement, the Hollands moved to Madison in 1995.  He was a member of Rutledge Baptist Church.  He enjoyed wood working and carpentry.  He built several homes for his family and rarely hired any work to be done.  He was a master with his hands.  He was a staunch conservative and a fan of Georgia Tech.  He liked to travel with his family and friends, especially cruises.

Mr. Holland is survived by his wife, Val Holland and their daughter, Robyn Holland and Cos Davis.  He also leaves two grandchildren, Matthew Sala and Kelsey Zivic.  He has one sister, Mary Holland and a brother-in-law, Alfus Anderson.  He also leaves a nephew, Ronny Howard.

The family received friends on Saturday from 6-8 PM.  The funeral service was held Sunday at 2 PM in the chapel of A.E. Carter Funeral Home.  Interment followed in the Madison City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Rutledge Baptist Church.
