JAMES BARRON KING           ALLENE CROSS KING

James (Jimmy) Barron King, 87, of 5232 Rivoli Drive, Macon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003.

 

He was a native of Cedartown and the son of the late James Samuel King and Cora Wood King. He lived in Macon for 57 years. Mr. King is the brother of Sara Casey of Cedartown who passed away Sunday.

 

Mr. King was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

 

Survivors include his wife, Allene Cross King; sons, Barry King of Mint Hill, NC, Allen King of Macon, and Mike King of Peachtree City; sister, Ann Smith of Ft. Pierce, FL; brother, Sammy King of Cedartown; and 7 grandchildren.

 

Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, February 25 at 4 p.m. in the Madison City Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Allene Cross King passed away on Friday, April 24, 2009. Memorial Services will be graveside in the Madison City Cemetery in Madison, GA on Sunday afternoon, April 26, 2009 at 4P.M.

 

Allene was born in Buckhead, GA on April 26, 1918 to Janie and Allen Cross and lived most of her early life in Godfrey, GA, a small community near Madison.

 

She was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, with a degree in education. Allene began teaching typing and English at Lanier Senior High School in Macon, GA in 1960 and retired from teaching at Central High School in 1981. She also briefly taught in Pelham, GA and at Tinsley Elementary School in Macon.

 

Allene was a long-time member of Martha Bowman Memorial United Methodist Church on Bass Road in Macon, where she was active in the Roberta Gardener Circle. She was also a member of the Howard Community Club. She loved reading, gardening, cooking and watching sports.

 

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, James B. "Jimmy" King; her two sisters, Sara Mae Peden of Cleveland, TN and Bessie Lee Walker of Madison, GA; and her brother, E.C. Cross of Griffin, GA.

 

She is survived by her three sons, Barry King (Brenda) of Mint Hill, NC, Allen King (Blanche) of Macon, GA and Mike King (Beth) of Villa Rica, GA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
