ANNETTE THURMOND MILLIKEN

Mrs. Annette Milliken, 68, of Buckhead died January 25, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Milliken was born November 13, 1938 in Jackson County to Willie and Emma McLeroy Thurmond. Mrs. Milliken spent most of her childhood in Atlanta. It was there she met John Milliken, whom she married on August 4, 1956. Mr. and Mrs. Milliken moved to Buckhead in 1995 from Connecticut. Mrs. Milliken immediately became involved in the community.

 

She was co-founder of the Antebellum Garden Club, Past President of the Greensboro Garden Club and Vice-President of the Imaginative Garden Club Judges group. Mrs. Milliken was on the Northeast Georgia Judges Council as well as a Life National Flower Show Judge. Mrs. Milliken was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Milliken was an avid card player, enjoying bridge and bunco. She was also a member of the Madison Newcomers and the Lake Oconee Newcomers clubs.

 

Mrs. Milliken is survived by her husband of 50 years, John Milliken as well as their two daughters, Susan M. Blackburn & Marlin of Sugar Hill and Gail M. Davis & Kent of Newborn. Mrs. Milliken is also survived by her grandchildren, Alex Davis and Anna Davis as well as two brothers, Harvey and Hazel Thurmond and George and Marty Thurmond. Other survivors include nieces, nephews and many friends.

 

The family received friends Friday from 6 until 8PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Madison Memorial Park. A.E. Carter Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
