Reid was born at home on August 15, 1940 to Robert LeRoy and Willie May Vining Alliston. He attended Buckhead Grade School and Morgan County High School where he was a team member of the 1956 State Champion Football Team. On June 9, 1961 he married Gwen, of Milledgeville.

Reid grew up learning to milk cows with his family. He later went on to buy the farm from his father and continued to dairy, as well as plant gardens and grow hay. Reid and Gwen raised their children on the farm just outside of Buckhead on Kingston Road. He enjoyed hunting rabbits, quail, and raccoons with his dogs. In the fall, after the hay was put up, he loved to work with his horses and mules and ride in the Bonner Wagon Train with his family. In later years, Reid’s love for tractors grew into collecting and restoring them.

The family will receive visitors on Friday October 18th from 6-8pm at A E Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday October 19th at 2pm at the A E Carter Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will follow at the Madison Cemetery.
