Susie Dacus Altman

Mrs. Susie Dacus Altman, 66 of Greensboro, Ga. died on July 19, 2010, following a five month struggle with her health.

Mrs. Altman was born in Seminole on February 27, 1944 to the late Doyan Dacus and Wanda Parker Dacus Turbeville. Mrs. Altman attended St. Petersburg Junior College. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Ramsey Altman, Jr. on June 2, 1966. Mrs. Altman was a certified dental assistant and worked over forty years in the dental field.

The Altman’s moved to Greensboro from Marietta, Ga. in 2002. Though she attended church locally, her church membership remained at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta. Mrs. Altman loved her family and friends. Her true joy came particularly from time spent with her granddaughter, Adyson. She had recently returned from a family vacation to Disney World with her.​

Mrs. Altman is survived by her husband, Ramsey Altman and their two daughters, Ashley Altman and her fiancé, Patrick O’Neill and Alyson A. Griggs and husband, John. Also surviving is one granddaughter, Adyson Griggs, as well as Mrs. Altman’s mother, Wanda Dacus Turbeville.​

Susie often thought of family and friends and even strangers before herself. Her faith in God, spiritual strength, determination and commitment to others is the hallmark of her life.​

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at A.E. Carter Funeral Home in Madison. The funeral service will be held on Friday at the Madison First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the nearby Madison Memorial Park.​
