Gerlinde Pöschko Baldwin, 75, of Macon, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018. A graveside service was held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 2:00 P.M., at Madison City Cemetery, in Madison, GA.

Born August 27th, 1942 in Kaplitz, Czechoslovakia, she was the youngest of five children. Her family moved to Germany after WWII. She met her husband Pierce Burney Baldwin III, who was an American soldier, at a dance in 1962. He would ride his bike seven miles from where he was stationed in Germany to see her and enjoy her mother’s German cooking.

They fell in love and got married in 1964. They moved to Madison, Ga when they were expecting their first child. They were married for 54 years. She devoted her life to her family and she had many talents. She could knit, sew, cook, garden, and woodwork. She could do anything she set her mind to.

In 1995, she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and fought courageously with grace and strength.

She will be dearly missed.

Mrs. Baldwin is survived by, her husband, Pierce Burney Baldwin, III; daughters, Heidi (Scott) Edge and Ainslie (Douglas) Schorr; son, Pierce Burney Baldwin, IV; grandchildren, Chrystle (Christian) Thompson, Drew Edge, Stanton Schorr, Virginia Schorr, and Ben Schorr.

Hart’s Mortuary, Cherry Street, has charge of arrangements.
