John William Beckham Sr., 85, of 1220 McHenry Crossing died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000.

​A native of Upson County, Mr. Beckham was a son of the late George Wesley and Henrietta Ella Penn Beckham. He was a retired cattle and peach farmer, and was retired as a warden from Morgan County Correctional Institute.

​Services were Monday at Madison Baptist Church with Dr. Jim Ross officiating. Burial was in Madison City Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Rose D. Beckham; three sons, Roger W. Beckham and George Morgan Beckham, both of Madison, and John ''Billy'' W. Beckham Jr., Marietta.; a sister, Ruth Burks, Thomaston; a brother, Moses Beckham, Madison; and four grandchildren.

Simmons Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
