Florine "Kitty" Grant Gibbs

Florine (Kitty) Grant Gibbs was born April 28, 1916 to the late Lee Grant and the late Mary Daniel Grant.

She married Raymon (Pinky) Gibbs in 1930. They were married for 50 years and they had 10 children. She was preceded in death by a daughter Flora Bell Gibbs, two sons Raymond (Jack) Gibbs and Lenwood (Boot) Gibbs; two children died at childbirth; three sisters Josephine Grant Maxey, Cleo Grant Bishop and Lucy Mae Grimes, four brothers Lee Grant Jr., Ulyssee S. Grant, Thomas Clayton Grant and Lenwood (Manboy) Grant.

Mrs. Gibbs was a self-taught seamstress. For the past several years she resided at Madison Health and Rehab Center. She enjoyed her roommate Ella Mae Lackey.

She died Tuesday, July 19 at the age of 100. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters Helen (Sue) Gibbs, Annie Kate Gibbs and Susie Ann Peters; two sons Willie Frank (Toot) Gibbs and Harry (BoCat) Gibbs, all of Madison; one niece Clara Maxey of Atlanta, one nephew Charlie Bishop of Madison and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral service was held for Mrs. Gibbs Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m. in Clarke Chapel Baptist Church. Interment was in Fairview City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Deacon Tony Gibbs, Deacon Charlie Mathis Jr., Rocky Cooper, Dwayne Gibbs, Terrence Howell and Kenontae Towler. Flower Girls were Tasha Gibbs, Evonda Gibbs, Artrose Cooper, Jenice Gibbs, Tiffany Gibbs and Latoshia Thomas.

Jones and Turner Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
