Mrs. Lucy Ann (Brown) George, 95, of Washington, Ga., and recently of Clarksburg, died on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Northampton Manor Nursing Center.

She was the wife of the late William Hardeman George Sr.

Born on Dec. 19, 1913, in Greensboro, Ga., she was a daughter of the late James L. Brown Jr. and Clara S. (Wright) Brown.

Mrs. George devoted her life to her family and home. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Georgia Society of Colonial Dames, the Garden Club of Washington, Ga., and the Pilot Club International Foundation.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Smyrna United Methodist Church, Washington, Ga.

Surviving are a son, William H. George Jr. and wife, Helen, of Richmond, Va.; a daughter Ann Williamson and husband, George, of Frederick; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests that those individuals who wish to show their support make a contribution to the American Cancer Society, Cancer.org, in lieu of flowers.
