Vivian Phillips Gilbert, 93, of Madison passed away peacefully on April 3, 2016 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.

Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, on September 29, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Berdie (Lee) and Wymer Kenten Phillips.

A life-long resident of Morgan County, Georgia, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bostwick and then Madison, Mrs. Gilbert was preceded in death by her husband, Demus Edward Gilbert in 1989.

She is survived by sons, Bruce (Judy) Gilbert of Madison, Bob Gilbert of Loganville; daughter, Beryl Dixon of Rutledge; grandchildren, Chris Hodges, Lee Gilbert, Curt Gilbert, Chip Porter, Marci Campbell, and Sumer Gilbert; and 12 great-grandchildren. At her request the family will have a private memorial service.
