Thomas "Tom" J. Jessup

Thomas (“Tom”) Jessup. Age 84, Madison, GA, passed away July 20, 2017, at the Harbor on Harmony Road. Even though Tom will be greatly missed, he didn’t want to be mourned, just remembered as a person who loved life. Arrangements are being made for a memorial service in August to celebrate his life; the date will be posted at a later time.

Tom was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, June 11, 1933. He was the only child of Clifford John Jessup and Norma Justine Weaver Jessup. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Lance Allen Jessup, and his stepson, Michael Robinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Martha Rawlinson Jessup, his daughter, Traci Jessup Dorr, and grandchildren, Brittany Alsbrooks Carter, Wesley Alsbrooks, Alyssa Alsbrooks, William Jessup, and Lindy Jessup.

Tom graduated from Grady High School in Atlanta, Georgia and is a veteran of service in the United States Army where he served in the signal corps in Germany. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1955 with a business degree. While working in Atlanta, Tom met and married Martha (Marti) Rawlinson of Birmingham, Alabama, on April 30, 1959. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage with their children and grandchildren.

Tom retired from Johnson and Johnson in 1990 after 31 years in sales throughout a territory spanning the southeastern United States.

His passions included bicycling, fishing, golf, storytelling, travel and mentoring his many grandchildren. Tom was a member of Madison Presbyterian Church, 382 South Main Street, Madison, Georgia, Lions Club and Toastmasters.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Madison Presbyterian Church, Choir Fund.
