Velma Mae White Lewis

Velma Mae Lewis, 71, of 1000 Whitehall Street, Madison, departed this life Monday, February 11, 2019 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. She was born July 30, 1947 in Madison to late parents Millard White, Sr. and Minnie Pearl White (Massey). Velma attended the public schools of Morgan County. At a young age she joined Calvary Baptist Church where she was baptized and later joined Grace Missionary Baptist Church. Velma was also a member of the Star of Amaranth OES #15.

Velma was a strong working lady; she showed exemplary work ethics and leadership; she dedicated many years to Siemans of Madison and then retired in 2006 after 16 faithful years with the Georgia Department of Transportation.

In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her son, Michael Lamar White; three sisters, Brenda White, Debra White-Bradley, and Diane White; four brothers, Millard White, Jr., Grady White, Timothy White, and Robert White.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her loving children, Eugene Lamar White (Patricia) of Conyers, Stephanie Reanice Smith (James) of Monroe, and Felicia Marie Lewis; two sisters, Belinda White and Christine White; brother, Willie White of Atlanta; nine grandchildren, Martaveous Smith, Tavarus Lewis, Brittany Smith, Jada Chapman, Nikkia White, Shakia White, Nayah White, Navona Griffin, and Eugene Hakim White; two foster grandchildren, Jai Wade and Jhori Wade; two great-grandchildren, Aaden Robinson and Aaliyah Robinson; a special friend James Percy Lewis (Doris); her favorite pet “Doby”.

A Funeral Service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 16, at Calvary Baptist Church, 184 Academy Street, Madison, Rev. Dr. Hoke L. Smith, Pastor, presented her eulogy, Minister Deborah Massey, presided the order of service. Her remains were interred in Madison Memorial Gardens, Madison, Georgia.
