Betty Brandon Maxey passed away on December 13, 2016 at St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro. She was born on May 3, 1935 to the late Johnny and Euna Tillman Brandon of Hillsboro, GA. She attended Monticello High School in Monticello, GA.

After graduating, she worked for Southern Bell/ATT for 30 years. She also retired from the Morgan County School System. After retiring, she worked part-time for the Historical Society of Morgan County.

Betty was married to the late Thomas Gene Maxey. She had two children, the late Barbara Maxey Moorhead and John Paul Maxey.

She is survived by her son, Paul and wife, Kelly Maxey and children, Nina and Daniel West, Brandon and Brittany Maxey and Samantha Maxey. Also surviving is her son-in-law, Earl Moorehead, Sr. and children, Earl Moorehead, Jr. and Thomas and Amanda Moorehead. She also has eleven great grandchildren: Noah and Hannah Moorehead, Caleb and Chase Moorehead, Jameson, Lillianna and Amelia West, Weyman Stephens and Elliott and Adelyn Maxey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16 at 11 AM in the chapel. A private committal service will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
