Charles William “C.W” Mitchem, 87, of Madison died on September 8, 2010. He was a native of Morgan County. He was the son of Dean Alonzo Mitchem and Josie Whitley Mitchem. He was born March 24, 1923. He was married to Faye Brown in 1946.

Mr. Mitchem worked for International Furniture Company. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member and a deacon of Beacon Heights Baptist Church. He worked as a volunteer with the Morgan County Crisis Center. He also enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits and vegetables he grew.

Mr. Mitchem is survived by his wife, Faye Brown Mitchem and their daughters, Nancy Mitchem Addy and James of Buckhead, and Belinda Mitchem Tyler and Dr. Ronald of Atlanta; grandchildren, Timothy Mitchem Tyler, Ann Marie Tyler Proctor and Casey, Dean Strange and Cathy and Dave Strange and Chasity; seven great-grandchildren, and other survivors Paige Saye and family, Kristi Collins and family, Jill Addy-Cobb and family and Jamie Addy.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 11 in the chapel of A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment followed at Madison Memorial Park. Rev. Steve Brown officiated.
