Beryl Adair Newsome

Beryl Adair Newsome, 84, passed away on September 14, 2020 at Madison Health and Rehabilation Center. She was born August 28, 1936. Her parents were the late George Cornelius (Neil) Adair and Alice Hammond Adair. She lived all of her life in Morgan County.

She attended West Georgia College in Carrollton and the University of Georgia in Athens. She was employed by Morgan County High School from 1961 until 1991 when she retired. She first worked as the principal’s secretary and then as assistant librarian.

She had one son, Clarke Adair Newsome who preceded her in death in February 2019. She is survived by Clarke’s wife, Pam Bell Newsome and one grandson, Robert Clarke (Bobby) Newsome (Andrea) of Augusta. She is also survived by one sister Karen Adair Lindsey (Roy) of Douglas and two nephews Griff Malcolm Lindsey (Allison) of Douglas and Clay William Lindsey (Caroline) of Tampa, Florida. She is also survived by her former husband Marvin C. (Chunk) Newsome.

Beryl was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and the First Baptist Church. She loved to travel, read and play Bridge.

Her service was held at A.E. Carter Funeral Home with Dr. Roy Lindsey officiating. She was interred at Madison City Cemetery.
