Thomas Alexander Roach, Sr. of Greensboro, Georgia, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at his home in Reynolds Plantation, Greensboro, Georgia.
Tom was the son of James L. Roach and Leah Trygstad Roach. He was born January 26, 1942 in Lapeer, Michigan. He grew up and lived in Michigan until 1993. He was a graduate of Michigan State University and a lifelong Spartan fan.
Mr. Roach worked as Executive Director of the Genesee County Planning and Economic Development Commission from 1968 to 1990. He and his wife, Lynne, also started Tomalyn & Associates Realtors in Grand Blanc, Michigan. In 1993, they moved to Greensboro to live at Reynolds Plantation where he worked as an associate broker.
Tom will be remembered as a true friend and gentleman to all who know him. His determination, strength and good humor in the face of any adversity will be remembered by all.
Surviving are: his wife, Lynne Roach of Greensboro; son, Thomas A. Roach Jr. and wife Tara of Smyrna; daughter, Laura Stinson and husband Mark of Alpharetta; brother, James L. Roach Jr. of East Lansing, Michigan; grandson, Thomas A. Roach III of Smyrna.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 at the Episcopal Church of the Advent (Barth Hall) in Madison, GA. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Monday, May 12 also at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to either the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University or The Episcopal Church of the Advent, 338 Academy St., Madison, GA 30650.
