Latrelle Watkins Stapp

Mrs. Latrelle Watkins Stapp, 81 of Madison, died on March 7, 2011. Mrs. Stapp was born on February 22, 1929 in Maysville, GA to O.H. and Montene Hendrix Watkins.

She moved with her family to Madison in 1939. She was married to Chester Stapp who preceded her death on December 6, 2010.

She was retired from the Georgia State Patrol. Mrs. Watkins worked for over twenty years as a radio operator for Post #8 in Madison. After retiring, she spent many days transporting cars for the former Phil Cook Motors, along with her husband.

Mrs. Stapp was a member of Madison Baptist Church, where she was active in the Woman's Missionary Union. She and Mr. Stapp enjoyed participating in activities with friends involving their church and the Madison community. She enjoyed traveling and walking for exercise. Mrs. Stapp also loved time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Mrs. Stapp was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; a daughter, Sheryl Denise Stapp; a granddaughter, Tara Stapp Herring; and two brothers, Glenn Watkins and Lyndon Watkins.

She is survived by three sons, Ronnie Stapp & Cindy, Jerry Stapp & Carol and Jimmy Stapp & Pam. Grandchildren are: Emily Boyer & Shane, Josh Stapp & Hillary, Jimmy Stapp, Jr., Kimberly Shoffner & David, Russell Stapp, Erin Peters & Jeffrey. Great Grandchildren are: Addison Boyer, Hollis Boyer, Hallie Stapp, Hannah Stapp, Owen Peters and Mary Morgan Peters. She is also survived by a sister, Regina W. Broach & Wilson and a sister-in-law, Sara Jo Watkins.
