Annie Ruth Nickerson Veasley

Annie Ruth Veasley was born in Morgan County on July 28, 1935 to the late Charlie and Maria Nickerson. During her early years she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and joined Macedonia Baptist Church in Rutledge. Also during these years she attended the public schools of Morgan County.

After uniting in holy matrimony to Frank (Hubbard) Veasley, two children were born, Norman and Angela. she was employed at International Furniture Company and later at Hercules, Inc. for 27 years. Annie Ruth moved her membership to Calvary Baptist where she faithfully attended church, sung in the choir, and attended Sunday school and mid Day Bible study each Wednesday. She was also a past matron and faithful member of Madison Star Chapter # 165 Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated.

Annie Ruth left to cherish her memory two beautiful children, Norman (Lavone) Veasley and Angela S. Veasley. Two of her five siblings preceded her in death; a brother Joseph Nickerson and a sister, Clara (the late Dock Parks). She will also be remembered by her sisters Hazel Nickerson of Atlanta; Katherine (the late Henry) Veasley, who resides here in Madison and an aunt, Cleo Maddox who lives in Toledo, Ohio. Annie Ruth also left two sisters-in-law Frances (the late Henry Parks of Athens and Mollie (the late Austin) Veasley of Madison. Through her son she was also blessed with two grandchildren, Reco (Terri) Veasley and Jasmine Veasley; two great grandchildren, Layla Grace and Zayn; an affectionately adopted son and daughter, Deacon and Sister Madeline and T.C. Cobb and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Veasley were held Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Hoke L. Smith Jr. officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.

Honor Attendants Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliated, Honorary-Mothers and deaconess. Pall Bearers, nephews and friends of the family, Honorary-Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church.

Jones and Turner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
