Sybil Jones Whitt, 85 of Rutledge, died Sunday, November 5, 2017. Mrs. Whitt was at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Whitt was born June 3, 1932 to Levi and Claudia Jones.

On February 1, 1952 she married Mr. Fred Whitt. After spending much of their life in Stone Mountain, Mr. and Mrs. Whitt moved to Rutledge in 1997. Mrs. Whitt was a member of Rutledge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed travelling and working in her yard as long as she was able.

Mrs. Whitt is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fred Whitt and their children, Cathy Wade, Jon Whitt & Tonia and Chris Montgomery & Tony. Her grandchildren are Jay Wade & Brooke, Dustin Wade, Kaylee Whitt, Donald Hardy, Harrison Montgomery and Anna Montgomery. Her great grandchildren are Kendall, Logan, Austin, Audrey and Avah. Mrs. Whitt also leaves two sisters, Lois Fowler and Jeanette Baltziger. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Wade.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6-8 PM at A.E. Carter Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 8 at 11 AM at Rutledge United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Madison City Cemetery.
