Sarah Frances Tuell, 80, died Sunday, November 14, 2004 at her home in Madison. She was born in 1924 to Grady and Claire Hawk Hogan of Madison. She was raised in Morgan County and married Hugh Tuell Sr.

 

She worked for many years for Paul H. Ponder in the cotton industry. She also owned her own clothing store in Madison and served as the Civil Defense Director for Morgan County. Mrs. Tuell enjoyed studying genealogy. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames and Madison Baptist Church.

 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Hugh Tuell Sr. of Madison and two sons, Hugh Tuell Jr. of Macon and Grady and Sally Tuell of Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi; a granddaughter, Sara Lydia Tuell and two grandsons, Mitcham Clayton Tuell and Hogan Verner Tuell; and three brothers, Henry Grady Hogan, James Hogan and Bobby Hogan.

 

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 16, at the chapel of A. E. Carter Funeral Home. Interment was at Madison Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. A.E. Carter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
