Mr. L.H. Walker Died Wednesday
Aged and Popular Citizen Passes at His Home Near Pennington, Burial Yesterday in Madison
Early Wednesday morning at his home near Pennington, Mr. L.H. Walker passed peacefully away. He had been in failing health for a long while, and for several days preceding his death, he had been growing gradually weaker.
His body was brought to the Hemperley mortuary to prepare for burial.
Funeral services were held from the Hemperley chapel [ ]:30 o'clock on Thursday morning and were largely attended. There was a wide circle of friends and extensive family connections. Services were conducted by the Rev. W.S. Adams, pastor of the Madison Baptist Church, and Revs. Zack Hayes and Ellis Sammons.
There was a large number of floral designs and some of them unusual in their size and beauty.
The choir, composed of Mrs. Hugh Morgan, Mrs. Mallard Estes, Mr. Wise and Mr. Hemperley, sang "Abide With Me" and "Home of the Soul." Mrs. C.W. Richter was accompanist.
The pallbearers were Messrs. F.C. and W.L. Newton, P.G and E.B. Walker, Bat Vason, Shields Burney, Tom Holland and Foster Smith.
Interment was at the family lot at the city cemetery.
Littleton Harwell Walker was the son of Seaborn Isaac Walker and Lucy Harwell Walker and was born March 17, 1859 at the ancestral home near the scene of his death. All of his life was spent in the immediate community.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nannie Shepherd Walker, and by five sons - Ellet Walker of Philadelphia, Seaborn Walker of Eatonton, and by L.H. Walker, Jr., Robert Walker, and George Walker, all of Madison. A brother, Mr. E.L. Walker, Sr., survives, with a number of nieces and nephews.
There were two sisters, Cornelia (sic), who married James S. Reid. She died some forty years ago. She is the mother of Mr. W.S. Reid, Edmund Reid, and Mrs. W.O.Byrd of Panama City, Fla. A younger sister was Miss Ama Walker, who died several years ago at Enterprise, Ala. Brothers who have passed away were Ike, Will, and Alva Walker, all three are buried at the old Walker graveyard near their late home.
Mr. Walker was one of the best men in the county, worthy descendant of two of the sturdy and pioneer families.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 10 in Godfrey for Mrs. Nannie Shepherd Walker, 93, of Morgan County, who died Thursday at Morgan County Hospital following a lengthy illness.
The services were held at Antioch Baptist Church in Godfrey with the Reverend W. T. Booth and the Reverend Ghari Osburn officiating and burial at the Madison cemetery.
A longtime member of Antioch Church, where she worked her entire adult life as a Sunday School teacher and devoted member, she was a well known and respected member of her community.
She was the daughter of the late Robert Whitfield Shepherd and Mary Page Moseley Shepherd of Morgan County. She was the widow of Littleton Harwell Walker.
She is survived by her five sons, L.H. Walker and R.S. Walker of Madison, Ellet C. Walker of Augusta, and S.I. Walker and G.W. Walker of Eatonton; a sister, Mrs. R.F. Davis of Atlanta, grandchildren, Mrs. J.C. Wilkins of Panama City, Florida, Mrs. Lamar Patrick, Jane, Judy and Penny Walker of Madison, Bobby Walker, Cordele, Ellet C. Walker of Washington, DC, and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Henry Atkinson, Johnny Fears, A.E. Nunnally, Welcome Malone, E.C. Cross, and W.W. Baldwin. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Underwood, J.B. Blackwell, H.C. Daniel, Walker Newton, Charles Kilpatrick, George Kilpatrick, and P.C. McHugh. Sr.
